All applicants being recommended by the Administration for employment (including substitute positions) with the Merrillville Community School Corporation are required to complete an extensive criminal background check and Department of Child Services (DCS) check at the applicant’s expense. Criminal Background investigations are conducted through an independent firm. The costs are as follows:
Certified Staff - $28.85 (includes State required teaching licensure check)
School Bus Drivers - $26.95 plus individual state fees for BMV check (Indiana charges $7.50)
All other Staff - $24.90
Out of state background checks populate as an additional cost to the applicant on a county basis at $6.95 per county.
Out of state (DCS) checks are the responsibility of the applicant to apply for, obtain and submit to the CorporationTo complete the criminal background and DCS check, please click on the Safe Hiring Solutions icon below and follow the directions.
Do not complete the extensive criminal background check until you have been contacted by a Central Office representative and instructed to do so.
